Dodge Neon
| | Model of the car: | Dodge Neon | | | General comments: | I love this little car! I have a Salsa Red 2000 Neon LX 5-speed with optional alloy wheels and up-graded tires, air conditioning and in-dash CD changer, no other options. The car looks and drives great and has been totally reliable and trouble-free so far, better than any car I've ever owned, including a lot of Japanese cars. I consider the Neon a poor person's BMW, it's that much fun to drive. Thanks, Chrysler! | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | There's too much tire roar on textured pavement. Rear visibility is limited, making backing up difficult. This is partly due to the car's tail-high stance, which should be reduced at least a couple of inches. Engine still too noisy and coarse under hard acceleration. Inside trunk and fuel filler door releases should be standard equipment,as should ABS. Alloy wheels look great but are hard to keep clean. Rubber-covered shifter for the 5-speed looks and feels cheap, as do the standard floor mats. Rear windows should wind all the way down. The ride's on the stiff side, but that's a price I'm more than willing to pay for this car's very good handling. The wheel-well openings are a bit too big, giving this otherwise handsome car a vaguely awkward look. And how about a power outlet in the trunk? | | | Previous car: | Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra. No contest. |
