| | Model of the car: | Dodge Neon R/T | | | General comments: | When I purchased this car, I was looking for a high gas mileage commuter to drive everday in place of my gas-hungry Ram 4x4 (hungry-hungry-hippo as my wife refers to it). Initially I didn't even consider the Neon since I was single at the time and the "Hi" commercials and looks of the Neon just didn't give the impression of a man's car. Nevertheless, after looking at several different small Japanese cars and a Saturn, I found myself at a Dodge Dealership just to see what a Neon was like. Despite the fact that the new 2000 models were already coming out, I spotted a couple of 99 R | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | Gas mileage is not as forcasted, but that could be because it is so fun to rev - my wife gets much better gas mileage in it than I do. Road noise, the stock Goodyear tires are rediculously noisy, and those rattles I discussed earlier. Cargo room - one big suitcase - tell your friends and relatives to pack light if you intend to pick them up at the airport in this car). Windows creak and groan as they go up and down - I think that's a Dodge trademark as my Ram makes similar noises, not as bad as the Neon though.
