Neon Highline 4 Door
| | Model of the car: | Neon Highline 4 Door | | | General comments: | What the Neon lacks in longevity and durability, it makes up for in having very exceptional performance. If Dodge had recalled the head gasket problem, Neon would probably be considered the best of all sub-compacts. The AC is on and off, the engine stresses and makes noise after hard acceleration, and the gas level sensor in the tank has broken for some reason, requiring the use of math and the tachometer. While many have claimed that the car gets awful gas mileage, that's a little off. Fuel economy is good in this car. I plan to get a new paintjob now that the paint is chipping. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | It's a typical Dodge product, meaning cheap. Head gaskets will eventually blow on all autos, air compressor has tendency to go out, paint chips, frame is weak and dents easily, rear bumper feels loose, although it gets the job done. Front headlights are weak, engine is loud for such a small car. Way too much wind leakage. 3 Speed automatic is not enough. 1st gear is a dog. The car could take Grand Ams and Cougars if it accelerated in first gear as well as 2nd and 3rd. Off lot brakes and tires will wear down quickly. Just be sure to get some good replacements. While it handles great, steering feels stiff. | | | Previous car: | It has as many problems as you'll get from a Cavalier, Escort, Sunfire, Integra, Civic, Probe, Malibu, etc., and the Neon could floor anyone of those cars. So it's probably better. |
